About This Publication

The Real State of Power is an independent monthly publication by Dr. Sunny Okonkwo, a data scientist and energy sector strategist with over fifteen years of experience across Nigeria's energy, telecommunications, and banking industries. It exists to cut through the noise that surrounds Nigerian electricity coverage and provide readers with data, analysis, and ground-level intelligence that decision-makers can actually use.

Every first Monday of the month, the publication releases its Closing Analysis, a deep look at the previous month's grid performance, sector developments, and systemic trends. Every last Monday, it publishes its Forward Outlook, covering mid-month developments, breaking sector news, and the picture for the coming month.

The publication serves three audiences simultaneously. Policy makers and regulators looking for honest sector intelligence. Business leaders making decisions that depend on Nigerian power reliability. Energy professionals who need a clear-eyed read on where the market is moving. The writing is independent, the analysis is direct, and the conclusions are drawn from public data and the lived experience of someone who has spent his career inside this sector.
